ORLANDO, Fla. -- March 10, 2003 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today introduced a portable computing solution capable of transmitting electronic signatures via satellite communications. Qualcomm's announcement at the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) 65th Annual Convention represents an advancement in load management technology, offering transportation service companies increased fleet management efficiencies through secure, over-the-air transfers of load assignments and delivery confirmations, complete with customer signatures, via handheld devices. This new technology will allow a reduction in paperwork and minimize delays in processing daily operations data, resulting in improved load and pre-dispatch planning.

The portable computing solution is a result of the combined effort of Qualcomm and wireless solution providerAgentek. Information is transferred securely via Qualcomm's satellite-based mobile communications system. Agentek was recently named a Qualcomm Certified Software Provider.

The first customer to implement this new solution is Milan Express, a transportation services company specializing in less-than-truckload, truckload, logistics, warehousing/storage consolidation and distribution services.

"Qualcomm's portable computing solution represents a compelling new business proposition for transportation fleets," said Glynn Spangenberg, vice president and general manager of transport logistics for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. "Fleets will be able to transmit secure electronic signatures over a satellite in 60-100 byte message sizes, which provides a unique opportunity for automated proof of delivery and improved billing cycle times, load planning and customer service, while generating additional stops per day."

"We are proud to be the first customer of Qualcomm's portable computing solution," said Bruce Kalem, vice president and chief financial officer, Milan Express. "In addition to the productivity benefits, the encryption and security features built into the system enable us to transmit sensitive information without worrying about fraud or data tampering."
