Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions Signs Mobile Communications Agreement with United Rentals to Equip Truck Fleet

SAN DIEGO -- February 18, 2002 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced an agreement with United Rentals, Inc. (NYSE: URI), the world's largest equipment rental company, to deploy QualcommOmniTRACS® andOmniExpress® mobile communications system units on its fleet of up to 10,000 delivery, service, sales and highway technology vehicles.

Qualcomm's OmniTRACS and OmniExpress wireless fleet management solutions enable United Rentals to provide superior customer service and to more efficiently dispatch and route these types of vehicles. Additionally, both systems interface seamlessly with United Rentals' RentalMan® software, from Wynne Systems, providing streamlined data integration to United's rental and services operations. With the two systems linked, United Rentals will increase productivity, efficiency and safety of its branch operations by eliminating manual paperwork and adding controls.
