SAN DIEGO and WALNUT CREEK, Calif. -- July 17, 2001 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, and GBase Communications, a pioneer in IP-based distributed wireless communications systems, today announced that they have expanded the terms of their existing worldwide CDMA infrastructure license agreement. Under the terms of the multi-million dollar, royalty-bearing amendment, GBase Communications has been granted, under Qualcomm's CDMA patent portfolio, a license to develop, manufacture and sell cdmaOne™ and CDMA2000 1x/1xEV infrastructure equipment. GBase Communications will pay Qualcomm ongoing royalties at the same rates, irrespective of the licensed CDMA standard implemented.
