SAN DIEGO - January 23, 2001 - Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced special pricing for its untethered TrailerTRACS® product. For a limited time, existing customers will be able to purchase the hardware for Qualcomm's untethered solution for $395* and pay only $7.75 a month for base messaging. This special price will enable fleet managers to equip their vehicles with wireless solutions that offer secure, reliable vehicle tracking and improved operating efficiencies.
The untethered TrailerTRACS asset management system allows fleet managers to use real-time messaging and accurate positioning for managing their trailers as efficiently as the rest of their fleet operations. Features include support for automatic drop-and-hook notification, GPS trailer location, and optional cargo and door sensors. The untethered solution provides trailer tracking within cellular coverage and interfaces with customers' existing OmniTRACS® and OmniExpress™ mobile communications systems, enabling easy integration of all fleet services. When the trailer is disconnected, Aeris.net MicroBurst® technology will provide continuous nationwide cellular communication to Qualcomm's untethered trailer tracking customers.
"With the untethered TrailerTRACS system, Qualcomm offers a complete wireless trailer tracking solution to customers and, with the special pricing structure, the untethered product is a competitive, affordable investment for fleets needing solutions today," said Chris Wolfe, senior vice president and general manager, Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions.
