SAN DIEGO -- October 19, 2000 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced the commercial release of its new iTruckMAIL™ Web-based service. iTruckMAIL enhances Qualcomm's existing TruckMAIL™ mobile communications system to allow access to mapping and messaging capabilities via the Internet. Features include street-level mapping, free-form messaging, vehicle position reporting and history, easier IT implementation, multiple user connectivity, multiple platform access and laptop connectivity.
TruckMAIL is a mobile communications solution designed especially for smaller fleets (less than 100 trucks), and is used by more than 150 of Qualcomm's current trucking industry customers. The system provides two-way communications and satellite tracking using Qualcomm's reliable and proven technology. It enables fleets to redirect loads, communicate with drivers and provides accurate information regarding ETAs. iTruckMAIL will be offered to current TruckMAIL customers who desire the benefits of online connectivity and to new customers within the truckload market.
