The joint solution will enable private fleets, less-than-truckload carriers (LTL) and metropolitan fleet owners to reduce operating costs, improve communications between dispatchers and drivers, and increase revenues and customer satisfaction.
Qualcomm brings its new OmniExpress™, CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access)-based two-way mobile communications system and its existing OmniTRACS® satellite-based mobile communications system to the solution. Descartes brings its dispatch and route optimization technology to the joint solution. Together, these complementary technologies offer an integrated wireless dispatch and route optimization solution that includes mobile terminals within the vehicle, a communications network to connect drivers to dispatchers, and dispatch and route optimization that promotes efficient use of fleet assets.
