Within Technology and Qualcomm Eudora ProductsFounded in 1994, Within Technology specializes in collaborative work and communications technologies. The company helped develop many features and enhancements for both the Windows and Macintosh versions of the Eudora email software client. Most recently, Within Technology helped to design a unique new ad-serving architecture to support the latest release of Eudora email, which includes a sponsor-supported mode with advertising in the user interface. This flexible, scalable ad-serving architecture uses a "play list" paradigm that enables ads to be displayed to users not only when they are working in email online, but offline as well.
"We've always specialized in building collaborative communications tools that bridge the gaps of time and distance," said Rob Chandhok, president and co-founder of Within Technology, and now a director of engineering for Eudora Products. "We look forward to leveraging our expertise in designing collaborative environments and computer-mediated communications systems to help extend Eudora's capabilities."
First developed by Internet pioneer Steve Dorner in 1989-1990, Eudora email has been recognized with more than 70 industry awards, and is now used by over 20 million people worldwide. With the release of Eudora 4.3 (which can now be downloaded for free at www.eudora.com), Qualcomm is once again taking the lead in providing innovative Internet email solutions. Going forward, the Company plans to expand both the functionality and the reach of its Eudora product line by adding more useful features and developing versions for emerging platforms such as wireless devices and Internet appliances.
