SAN DIEGO -- July 22, 1999 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leader in digital wireless communications and advanced electronic messaging solutions for the Internet, today announced that Jeffrey K. Belk, vice president of marketing for Qualcomm, has been appointed to the position of vice president and general manager for Eudora Products within Qualcomm Consumer Products.
"Through his incisive and energetic leadership over the past five years, Jeffrey has contributed significantly to the growth of our overall business and to the process of our entry into the digital phone consumer products arena," said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, president of Qualcomm Consumer Products. "His extensive experience in sales, marketing and product management, in combination with his computer industry experience, will provide the impetus to extend the development of Eudora's award-winning software into the new millennium."
Prior to joining Qualcomm in early 1994, Belk spent almost eleven years in the personal computer industry in sales and marketing management roles in the United States and overseas. At Qualcomm, Belk worked in several business development roles prior to his assignment as head of Qualcomm Consumer Products marketing efforts in October 1995. In 1998, his role expanded to include responsibility for Qualcomm corporate marketing and communications. Through his extensive speaking engagements at conferences and events around the world, Belk has been a significant contributor in gaining wide acceptance of CDMA and promoting its worldwide evolution path. Under Belk's active leadership, his marketing team generated worldwide awareness of Qualcomm's digital wireless technology and products through the development and implementation of global branding and public relations campaigns.
Belk's accomplishments in Qualcomm's Consumer Products and corporate areas also included marketing for major industry events, such as PCS and CTIA, and worldwide events including Super Bowl XXXII, the 1998 World Series and the 82nd Running of the Indianapolis 500. Belk holds a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, San Diego, and a master's degree in business administration from the University of California, Irvine.
