Qualcomm Appoints Telecom Veteran David Brandos to Head Worldwide Marketing of Wireless Business Solutions

SAN DIEGO -- January 12, 1999 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced the appointment of David Brandos to vice president of marketing for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions™ (QWBS). With over 17 years leadership experience in the telecom industry, Brandos' expertise in wireless data communications will be an asset in developing, marketing and deploying new wireless business applications around the globe.

Qualcomm, one of the world's largest providers of wireless data services to the transportation industry, recently announced strategic plans to enter new wireless data markets and bring new data applications to businesses worldwide. "As we expand our focus and business, we are delighted to have Dave on board," said Phil White, senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. "His expertise in deploying wireless data products, coupled with experience in telecom marketing and sales, business development, engineering and management will be instrumental in shaping our future and growing our business."

Brandos comes to QWBS from Qualcomm's Wireless Infrastructure Division, were he was responsible for business development of the High Data Rate (HDR) wireless technology. Previously, he served in senior management roles for Alltel Communications, Pacific Communication Sciences Inc., and McCaw Cellular Communications, where he was founder of the Wireless Data division and a key player in building the first wireless cellular data network. He is on the board of directors of the Wireless Data Forum. A native of Southern California, Brandos holds degrees in business and computer science.
