Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), aleader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, todayannounced that it has renewed its contract with Prime, Inc., one of the top10 truckload carriers and one of the largest refrigerated carriers in thenation. Specializing in refrigerated and flatbed operations, Prime is atechnology innovator who has taken the OmniTRACS system and fullyintegrated it into their dispatch and operations systems. An early user ofthe OmniTRACS® mobile information management system and a Qualcomm customersince 1992, Prime has extended its contract for an additional five years.
In conjunction with the OmniTRACS system, Prime uses Qualcomm'sTrailerTRACS® product to manage its trailer assets and trailer poollocations. TrailerTRACS has enabled Prime to significantly improve itsasset utilization with timely drop and hook information, monitoring of loadtemperatures, set points, door open and alarm conditions. It also helpsensure that temperature-sensitive goods are delivered on-time anddamage-free. In addition to improving its tractor-trailer ratio, Prime hasbeen able to save many high-value loads over the past couple of years withthe aid of TrailerTRACS' asset monitoring capabilities.
