Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that its Eudora Pro Email 4.0 Internet messaging software continues its dominance and strong popularity throughout the marketplace by securing additional awards from two of the industry's leading publications. Most recently, Eudora Pro Email 4.0 won Windows Magazine's prestigious "Win 100 Award," which lists the magazine's top 100 PC product picks and Network Computing Magazine's "Well Connected Award," for Best Email Client.
"These new accolades further reinforce our leadership in the Internet software marketplace," explained Randy Salo, director of Eudora Product Line Management for Qualcomm's Consumer Products Division. "We are pleased, but not surprised, that the product has received recognition. Eudora Pro Email 4.0 is a prime example of Qualcomm's commitment to provide leading communication tools throughout the world."
Windows Magazine based its selection criteria on real-world usability and overall design and engineering excellence. The panel of judges, Windows Magazine editors, presents the "Win 100 Award" once a year, which is considered the magazine's highest award bestowed on a PC product.
At the Networld + Interop Trade Show on May 4, 1998, Network Computing Magazine announced Eudora Pro Email 4.0 won its "Well Connected Award" for Best Email Client in the Collaborative Computing category.
"The Well-Connected Awards are significantly different from other IT publications' awards," said Fritz Nelson, editor-in-chief of Network Computing, published by CMP Media, Inc. "Our editors worked at length to research and test the best products in the enterprise arena. These products are not a measure of popularity—they are quality products tested over a networked enterprise in our Real-World Labs® by the editors themselves. We know first hand that Eudora Pro Email 4.0 by Qualcomm is truly an innovative solution."
Network Computing Magazine also acknowledged that Eudora Pro Email's support for the latest Internet protocols and standards such as IMAP4, HTML and ACAP strongly enhanced Eudora Pro Email's feature base.
Introduced December 8, 1997, during Fall Internet World, Eudora Pro Email 4.0 offers users an extremely powerful mail management tool with best-of-class plug-ins for virus protection, document viewing, file compression and security. The product has won the following awards and recognition since December:
