Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) and DeTeMobil of Bonn, Germany today announced their intent to offer Pegasos-QEDesign, a comprehensive wireless network planning and deployment software suite for multiple technologies, including Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM) and various analog standards.

Pegasos-QEDesign is a combined software package that includes the strengths of DeTeMobil and Qualcomm's existing network planning and deployment tools. DeTeMobil's (also known as T-Mobil, a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom) Pegasos software is a proven GSM network planning package that is already used extensively by GSM operators worldwide. QEDesign is a leading cdmaOne (IS-95 CDMA) network planning and deployment tool that takes advantage of Qualcomm's expertise as the developer of CDMA technology and experience in deploying CDMA networks. The new suite is a cost-effective solution for operators who require advanced network planning capabilities for both GSM and CDMA systems.

Pegasos-QEDesign produces sophisticated, highly accurate, high-performance propagation models for macro, mini and microcell planning, and can integrate field test data in a variety of ways for accurate measurement and tuning. The tool models IS-95-compliant CDMA systems for cellular, PCS and wireless local loop systems, and offers an easy-to-use graphical user interface for functions such as demand modeling, traffic planning, all types of CDMA handoff simulation, multi-layer data set imaging, minicell propagation modeling, neighbor list upload/download to the Base Station Manager (BSM), complete plot and report generation, and more.
The new software suite also supports all required GSM planning and modeling functions, as well as network operations and maintenance over the lifecycle of the mobile system. In addition, Pegasos-QEDesign provides highly accurate propagation modeling and frequency planning, GSM radio neighborhood handoff planning, automatic traffic load calculation, 3D microcell planning, interference analysis, and many other advanced features.
