Qualcomm Announces Promotion of Two Key Executives in its Subscriber Products Division

Qualcomm Incorporated (QCOM:NASDAQ) today announced the appointments of David J. McDowell to senior vice president of sales and Jeffrey K. Belk to vice president of marketing for Qualcomm's Subscriber Products Division. McDowell and Belk will continue to report to Dr. Paul E. Jacobs, president of the division.

McDowell's extensive background in worldwide sales and business development includes over 10 years of senior telecommunications management and more than 20 years of high technology sales management expertise. McDowell joined Qualcomm in 1996 as vice president of sales for Qualcomm's Subscriber Products Division. Prior to joining Qualcomm, McDowell served as chief operating officer of Japan Radio Company, Inc. (JRC), where he successfully led the company to expand into the consumer analog cellular, GPS module and cellular fixed station markets. Previously he served as president and COO of NovAtel and as vice president of subscriber products for Hughes Network Systems, where he was responsible for Hughes' entry into the digital cellular market. McDowell also served as managing director for ComputerLand, Europe and began his career at IBM Canada and IBM World Trade Corporation. McDowell holds a B.A. in Political Science and Economics from the University of Minnesota.

Jeffrey Belk brings over 14 years of experience in worldwide high technology marketing and sales management to his new position. At Qualcomm, Belk has led the planning and development of successful worldwide marketing efforts for the Company's CDMA digital phones. Under Belk's direction, the Subscriber Products Division of Qualcomm launched an innovative, multi-million dollar advertising campaign in the U.S. and developed strategies for global product branding efforts. Prior to joining Qualcomm in early 1994, Belk served as director of sales and marketing for Pulse Spectrum, where he began his career in digital wireless communications. Over a ten-year span with Proxima Corporation, a leading manufacturer of multimedia projection devices, Belk held several sales and marketing management positions in the U.S. and Europe, including national distribution manager, product marketing manager and area sales manager for Western Europe. Belk holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and an M.B.A. from the University of California, Irvine.
