Qualcomm Hits the Waves at Luau and Longboard Invitational

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) will defend its championship surfing title and raise funds for cancer research this Sunday, August 10, at the Fourth Annual UCSD Cancer Center Luau and Longboard Invitational at Scripps Beach in La Jolla.

"With our two year winning streak on the line, we have a lot of pride at stake, but no matter what happens on Sunday, the real winners will be the people who will benefit from the cancer research that will be funded from the proceeds of this event," said Dan Sullivan, senior vice president for Human Resources at Qualcomm.

Qualcomm is a top level sponsor of the event which attracts a wide range of media, elected officials, scientists, physicians and business representatives from San Diego's leading communications and bio-tech industries.

Qualcomm is fielding a team comprised of Pat Connor, Ty Aberle, Doug Jones and Todd Sutton, who are engineers at the company. The Qualcomm team will also be joined by local photo journalist Margo Schwab and professional surfing legend, L.J. Richards.

Qualcomm has also donated the use of one of its QCP-800™ Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) handsets which will be used for live phone-in media interviews from the event.
