Qualcomm Announces Award-Winning Eudora Pro™ Email Softwarefor Apple's Newton® Operating System

Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leader in wireless communications and advanced electronic messaging solutions for the Internet, today announced that Eudora Pro™ email software for Apple's Newton® operating system has received the International Winter Consumer Electronics Show's Innovations '97 award and will be featured at the show. Demonstrations will be held daily at the show in Qualcomm's booth #20453 at the Sands Expo and Convention Center in Las Vegas. Starting today, the software is commercially available and can be purchased electronically from Qualcomm's web site at http://www.qualcomm.com for $49.95 (U.S. and Canada only). With 18 million users, the Eudora® family of software products is the world's most widely-used Internet email solution.

Qualcomm's Eudora Pro software for Newton and its powerful mail-management tools allow Apple hand-held computer users to utilize the Apple MessagePad®130 or newly announced MessagePad 2000® to retrieve their Internet email using standard TCP/IP protocols. Eudora Pro software is now fully integrated with Apple's Newton 2.0 and 2.1 Operating Systems and offers numerous features including direct TCP/IP connection to a POP3/SMTP server, powerful message filtering, standard Internet MIME formatted text message support, a browse feature that lets users decide which messages are retrieved and easy access to other Newton features.
