Qualcomm Names David J. McDowellVice President of Sales for Subscriber Products

SAN FRANCISCO - Sept. 19, 1996 - Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) todayannounced the appointment of David J. McDowell to the newly createdposition of vice president of sales for the Company's Subscriber Productsgroup.

David McDowell is chartered with managing existing customers, as well asdeveloping business and channel opportunities for Qualcomm's subscriberproducts based on the Company's Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA)technology. Mr. McDowell will be responsible for global sales ofQualcomm's broadening CDMA product line, including cellular and PCSportables, wireless local loop, as well as support and data products.

"Dave McDowell possesses all of the qualities needed to maintain ourcurrent growth and market position as the world's leading supplier of CDMAcellular, PCS and wireless local loop phones," said Dr. Paul E. Jacobs,senior vice president and general manager of Qualcomm's Subscriber Productsgroup. David McDowell has been in the wireless industry for over a decade, havingheld high-level positions at Hughes Network Systems, NoveAtel, JRC and,most recently, at Siemens. Previously, he held management positions atComputerland Europe and IBM Corporation. Mr. McDowell holds B.A. degreesin both political science and economics. In addition,Mr. McDowell attendedthe Blarcum International Management school in Holland.
