IAM, the leading intellectual property publication, recently ranked Alex Rogers, Qualcomm Incorporated, the #1 Top Market Maker in the world for IP leadership.
The seventh annual list, which identifies the “Top 40 Market Makers” throughout the world, called out top leaders of the global IP industry — visionaries who were “responsible for setting new standards for the industry through pioneering licensing deals, game-changing portfolio transactions, and landmark litigation settlements.”
Rogers, president for Qualcomm Technology Licensing (QTL) and Global Affairs, scored the top spot on the list for having “ably steered the IP side of the business through significant regulatory challenges” and built “the industry’s best and biggest wireless licensing program.”
A 20+ year veteran of Qualcomm, Rogers’ first place ranking comes at a time where QTL has “more than 150 5G deals in place” and “is poised brilliantly to capitalize on the continued shift to next-generation personal devices,” IAM commented.
Rogers is responsible for the strategic direction and oversight of QTL, including the management of all day-to-day operations, and has responsibility for the IP Department, which also holds the patent, copyright and trademark practice groups. During his leadership as QTL president, he has negotiated and supervised key licensing agreements, initiated a variety of programs to catalyze IP development that tap Qualcomm’s extensive heritage in R&D, and developed unique new programs to assist licensees in adopting new technology and reaching new markets. In 2021, Rogers was appointed to lead Qualcomm’s Global Affairs, where he’s responsible for government affairs, public affairs, export compliance, and corporate responsibility.
Rogers is a member of Qualcomm’s Executive Committee and reports directly to Qualcomm president and chief executive officer, Cristiano Amon.
