Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms are fully realizing Wi-Fi 6

This is the age where groundbreaking technologies in connectivity are rapidly transforming industries and meeting new expectations for greater performance, faster speeds, and better security. This trend also applies to Wi-Fi, one the most broadly deployed technologies in the world.

As data needs and the number of connected devices continue to skyrocket across virtually every conceivable environment, spanning homes, enterprise, transportation hubs, college campuses, hotels, and stadium-type venues, network technologies have to keep up with the speed, complexity, and congestion that follow. Put simply: today’s demands require a new wireless standard that can deliver faster, smoother, and more reliable connected experiences.

That’s where Wi-Fi 6, the latest generation of wireless, comes in. It’s the most transformational technology transition ever for Wi-Fi — a reimagining, if you will — and alongside 5G, is delivering a new era of wireless connectivity.

The platforms are designed to drive seamless connectivity in high-density environments and are offered in four tiered configurations modeled after the wide-ranging needs of Wi-Fi networks. Regardless of the tier, all platforms are designed around the core guiding principle of maximizing the full potential of the complete Wi-Fi 6 feature set.  

Wi-Fi 6 superiority

Wi-Fi 6 is designed to deliver increased network capacity and efficiency, with flexibility and scalability. Our Networking Pro Series goes above and beyond, supporting maximum capacity, range, and performance for the next generation of enterprise access points, carrier gateways, and consumer routers.

The series features four standout tiers: the Qualcomm Networking Pro 1200, Qualcomm Networking Pro 800, Qualcomm Networking Pro 600, and Qualcomm Networking Pro 400 platforms. While distinguished by format, scale of application, and computing needs, all are designed to deliver a fast, smooth, and reliable Wi-Fi 6 connectivity experience to more users than previous Wi-Fi generations. Because the platforms are scalable, they can support a wide range of connected applications and environments, such as university lecture halls, malls, stadiums, and office buildings.

The Qualcomm Networking Pro 1200, the series’ premium tier, is particularly advanced and can support up to 12 streams of Wi-Fi 6 connectivity with eight streams of connectivity in the 5GHz band. And because the platform is built to enable maximum design flexibility, manufacturers can configure it for either dual- or tri-radio operations, depending on their desired application.

Unprecedented capacity and coverage

When it comes to crowded environments where extreme high-density employments are needed, the Qualcomm Maximum User Network Architecture fits the bill. Integrated in the Qualcomm Networking Pro Series platforms, this unique feature is developed for these demanding deployments, with a differentiated ability to associate and maintain necessary connectivity stability and ideal throughput to up to 1,500 clients simultaneously. This architecture is suitable for next-generation enterprise use cases and carrier-class deployments.

Wi-Fi 6 standards have the potential for a dramatic increase in capacity and coverage for personal and enterprise use cases — up to 4X more capacity than its previous generation. This surge in capacity, however, is only as useful as it’s efficiently managed. This management requires an algorithmic scheduling of the core technologies that Wi-Fi 6 brings — OFDMA for small data packets and MU-MIMO for larger data. Qualcomm Multi-User Scheduling Algorithms are built on decades of research and development, yielding a rich technology pedigree in MU-MIMO and OFDMA implementations.  

Our full uplink and downlink OFDMA support applies across all streams for both 5- and 2.4-GHz bands, and for all tiers, with support for up to 37 clients. This means our Networking Pro Series platforms are engineered to deliver maximum spectral efficiency for latency-sensitive and small data applications. Our MU-MIMO implementations are also fully supported for uplink and downlink applications across all spatial streams and bands of Wi-Fi.
