Meet the Snapdragon 617 with X8 LTE

Designed for high-end smartphones and tablets, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 617 processor supports next-generation LTE Advanced connectivity and robust multimedia experiences. And as one of the first processors with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 built in, it supports up-to 4-times-faster battery charging over devices without the fast charging technology.

Like its Snapdragon 800 series big brothers, the 617 features dual-image signal processors (ISPs) and advanced LTE connectivity, which means impressive photographs can be uploaded and downloaded with fast speeds. X8 LTE connectivity

X8 LTE, built into the Snapdragon 617, offers Category 7 download speeds of up to 300 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 100 Mbps by using bi-directional 2x20 MHz carrier aggregation.

Not outside? Not a problem. Stay connected with Qualcomm VIVE 2-stream 802.11n/ac Wi-Fi technology with MU-MIMO (Multi-User Multiple-Input and Multiple-Output). When connected to routers that also have MU-MIMO, smartphones, tablets, and TVs can get Wi-Fi that is up to three times faster than devices hooked up to routers that serve only one device at a time.

Brilliant multimedia

The Snapdragon 617 boasts dual-ISPs—supporting cameras with up to 21 megapixels for superior image capture, and high-definition video up to 1080p at 60 frames per second. The Snapdragon 617 integrates the Qualcomm Adreno 405 GPU for advanced 3D imagery, the latest APIs, and hardware tessellation that the immersed online gamer will really appreciate.

The 617 features Fluence HD noise-cancellation technology, designed to reduce distracting background noise. And the processor’s HD multichannel sounds with DTS-HD and Dolby Digital Plus means that listening to audio playback is akin to experiencing sound in a personal home theater.

Powerful battery life

The Snapdragon 617 integrates the high-performance, low-power Qualcomm Hexagon 546 DSP that can operate quietly while sipping very little battery life for key use cases in speech, audio, sensors, and more.

The processor’s support for carrier aggregation also helps the device extend its battery life. Because carrier aggregation allows for faster download and upload speeds, it allows the device to reduce the amount of time the LTE radios are turned on, which reduces power consumption. But if the battery does run low, no need to worry—the 617 processor is the first in its tier to support Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, which supports charging speeds of up to four times those of traditional USB charging.
