Pop quiz: Guess which tech company is at the heart of the IoE? [VIDEO]

How do you go about intelligently connecting virtually everything? That was the central question—and there were lots of answers—at Qualcomm’s Internet of Everything (IoE) Day event in San Francisco earlier this month. Attendees (media and other key influencers) heard presentations from Qualcomm experts, saw product demos, and were briefed about new announcements, including the introduction of connectivity solutions, enhancements to the Qualcomm AllPlay smart media platform, and more. Here’s a random round-up of a few of the more thought-provoking stories following the big event (note: all products mentioned are products of Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. or its subsidiaries):

Qualcomm Wants to Push Chips Further Into Internet of Things

Qualcomm Inc. has already built a sizable business in what Silicon Valley calls the Internet of Things, but it isn’t satisfied… [Qualcomm] plans to push more of its chips into such products as light bulbs, air conditioners, washing machines, cars and medical devices.

Qualcomm: The Internet of Things Is Already A Billion Dollar Business

Qualcomm is using much of the same technology it puts into phones in Internet of Things devices. It’s tailoring its Snapdragon processors for mobile phones, for example, for automobiles and smartwatches.

Qualcomm makes IoT gadgets smarter with new chips: 5bn non-smartphone connected devices by 2018

If you're thinking the IoE isn't here just yet, Qualcomm has more than 20 wearable products shipping in over 30 countries with over 20 designs in development, more than 40 connected car programs from over 15 OEMs (original equipment manufacturers) and more than 20 active smart city engagements across key areas. It's also number one globally in home networking solutions.

Qualcomm’s plan to invade your home – and make your light bulbs smarter

Qualcomm has massive ambitions for the Internet of Things. More than 120 million smart home devices with Qualcomm’s tech were shipped last year, and it sees this as a $1Trillion industry by 2020…[the Internet of Everything] remains a broad, sometimes confusing mesh of technologies—but Qualcomm is spearheading this movement by setting the technology agenda.

     — Hugh Langley, T3Chaget

While many are marketing and hyping, Qualcomm has already built the foundation for the Internet of Everything through intelligent connectivity. And one of the big ideas communicated to attendees at the IoE Day event is that we have a clear vision for the future. No other company is in position to address the unique challenges of scalability, interoperability and accessibility.
