Last week LG Electronics announced its latest offering in wearable devices: the stylish LG G Watch R.

In a departure from current smartwatch trends, which tend to favor a big, square design, the G Watch R looks like many analog timepiece available today. Classically elegant watch frame aside, this next-gen wearable device boasts a powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 400 processor, with 4GB of storage and 512MB RAM. The G Watch R runs on the Android Wear operating system, which is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and above, so wearers can easily access messages, weather forecasts, calendars and more without reaching for their smartphones.

According to LG, the G Watch R is the world’s first watch-style wearable device to feature a circular Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display which utilizes 100 percent of the watch face. The 1.3-inch full circle P-OLED display produces strong image clarity from any angle, even under bright sunlight. The interchangeable 22mm calf skin leather strap offers added comfort and style to match a durable stainless steel frame.

Along with a selection of preloaded digital watch faces to complement the wearer’s personal tastes comes a handful of LG health and fitness apps, as well as a heart rate monitor, so users can get the most out of their workout routines. It’s also equipped with additional sensors, including a compass, accelerometer, barometer, and more. Plus, it’s dust and water resistant, making it capable of  running for up to 30 minutes when submerged in up to one meter of water.

Available in black, the LG G Watch R is expected to go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2014.
