Samsung has added the Samsung Gear S smartwatch to its growing roster of wearables. An attractive display and sensible features like Voice over 3G and turn-by-turn navigation assistance make the Gear S a great addition to your wardrobe.

The Gear S is powered by a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 400 processor, and runs on Samsung’s Tizen operating system, with 512MB of RAM, 4GB of internal memory, and a 300mAh Li-ion battery that can last up to two days between charges.

The elegantly-curved 2-inch display and flexible band means this smartwatch will fit pleasantly on the wearer’s wrist. For added flair, the device features changeable straps to personalize its look for any style. Fashionable yet functional, there’s no need to worry about staying connected. The smartwatch can connect to 3G, Wi-Fi or Bluetooth 4.1, which means that you’ll get every notification and message. You can even reply to text messages and emails with the onscreen keyboard. Additionally, enhanced voice functionality brings voice phone calls right to the wrist.

The Gear S can easily be paired with the S Health or Nike+ Running app to help keep workouts in check. Plus it’s packed with sensors: a built-in heart rate monitor is matched by an accelerometer, gyroscope and compass, among others. It’s dust-proof and also water resistant, so there’s no need to worry about breaking a sweat. The Super AMOLED display reflects less light, making it ideal to have on-hand when exercising outdoors, and the built-in, turn-by-turn pedestrian navigation app will lead the way home after a morning jog.

The Samsung Gear S smartwatch is expected to be available for purchase in black or white beginning October 2014.
