VSN Mobil recently introduced the V.360º, a video camera capable of recording in 360 degrees simultaneously, creating seamless panoramic shots. Running on a Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 800 processor, the V.360º is designed to process high-quality video quickly thanks in part to the Snapdragon dual-image signal processors.
Capable of docking in a standard mount, the V.360º is perfect for extreme sports. Videos and stills can be uploaded to a companion app, or to popular social networking sites. And with the availability to live-stream wirelessly as well, the V.360º is great for meetings, parties, home security, and other situations in which you might want to see everything at once.
Captured videos are 1,080 pixels high, meaning the V.360º technically shoots in 1080p. However, the Snapdragon processor’s 4K-ready ISP is engineered to provide the juice necessary for the 16MP camera to capture 6,480 pixels wide. Because the V.360º has a single lens, there’s no stitching required, as used in traditional panoramic technology. This means it’s designed for no loss in resolution as the panels don’t struggle to mesh together, and there’s no post-processing required. The V.360º is able to capture and process high-resolution panoramic video at up to 30fps, and can even snap 8MP still photos while recording.
That single lens also features backside illumination, improving its abilities in low-light and underwater conditions. And, as is critical for extreme sports equipment, the V.360º has an IP67 rating for extreme conditions: it’s water resistant and rated for depth of a meter for up to 30 minutes, and is also shock, dust, and vibration resistant.
The V.360º will be available in October. Pricing has yet to be announced.
