Amazon Kindle HDX tablet series

If you think the Amazon Kindle is just for reading, Amazon’s new Kindle Fire HDX series tablets are here to change your mind. The new series comes in 7-inch and 8.9-inch versions both packed with new hardware, including the super fast and powerful Qualcomm® Snapdragon™ 800 processor, and software that makes these two Kindle Fire HDX series tablets the ones to beat for work and play for the upcoming  holiday season.

Extremely Fast

The Kindle Fire HDX and Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 are two of the first tablets to be powered by a Snapdragon 800 processor, making them the first Kindle tablets to clock in at over 2 GHz in processing speed. The Snapdragon 800 processor is designed to provide 3x more processing power than the previous-generation Kindle Fire HD and, combined with 2GB of RAM, provide faster app launch times, quicker website load times, smoother multi-tasking, and better overall performance.

The Snapdragon 800 processor is also designed to deliver high frame rates and console quality graphics—4x the performance of the previous generation Kindle Fire HD.

Extremely Well Connected

Kindle Fire HDX has upped the ante in connectivity by using state-of-the-art dual-band, dual-antenna Wi-Fi for fewer dropped connections and faster media streaming and you'll be able to go further from your wireless hotspot than with many other tablets.

The 4G versions of Kindle Fire HDX feature the latest 4G LTE technology for ultra-fast mobile broadband, at speeds even faster than Wi-Fi. Both sizes of the Kindle Fire HDX are available with AT&T and now Verizon. Kindle Fire HDX with wireless from AT&T includes support for multiple bands, so even when you're in a place with no 4G LTE network, you'll fall back to the fastest available network without losing coverage.

Extremely HD

With the highest resolution (2560x1600) and the best pixel density (339 ppi) of any Kindle Fire tablet, the HDX 8.9-inch display features over 4 million pixels for vivid, lifelike images. And both the 7-inch and 8.9-inch feature perfect color (100% sRGB) displays that go beyond standard HD.

The new series also have dynamic image contrast that makes images and videos even easier to see in any lighting conditions, including outdoors.

Extremely Light

At 13.2 ounces (13.5 ounces for 4G version), the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" is 34% lighter than the previous generation and both are easy to hold in one hand.

Extremely Entertaining

With the power of IMDb, Amazon's exclusive X-Ray service comes to movies and TV shows. Tap on any scene to explore character backstories to TV shows you’re catching up on, see which actors are currently on screen, jump to other movies in which they star and learn the names of songs as they play.

With Kindle Fire HDX tablets and a certified Miracast-enabled accessory or TV, you can also share what you’re watching on the bigger screen including movies, TV shows, and photos.

Extremely Helpful

All new, the "Mayday" button connects you to an Amazon expert 24x7, 365 days a year for free with a response goal of 15 seconds or less. They can co-pilot you through any feature by drawing on your screen, walking you through how to do something yourself, or by doing it for you.

Extremely Productive

You get up to 12 hours of uncompromised reading, surfing the web on Wi-Fi, watching video, or listening to music on the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 and up to 11 hours on the 7-inch version. When you're just reading, Kindle Fire HDX automatically powers down unused system components, extending battery life to 18 hours on the 8.9-inch and 17 hours on the 7-inch.

Extremely Memorable

Now you can not only watch and read memorable shows and books, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9 version features an 8MP rear-facing camera that allows you to create new memories including high-resolution photos and 1080p HD video. The rear camera includes an LED flash, Electronic Image Stabilization to remove hand jitters, a wide-aperture lens, and support for panorama and High Dynamic Range (HDR) imaging. It also includes photo editing features and a new camera mode with filmstrip.

And both the 7" and 8.9" Kindle Fire HDX tablets have a front-facing 720p HD camera, perfect for Skype HD video calls and taking photos to share via Facebook or e-mail.
