Lego Shows Off Slithering Cobra-Bot

Among the cool robots at the FIRST robotics competition was this slick bit of slithering mechanics.

Among the unusual sights at the 2013 Championship of the FIRST robotics competition in St. Louis is something we found in the Lego League exhibit area. Captured on video is this robot snake that looked a bit like a cobra—eliciting more giggles than screams.

Slated for commercial launch during the second half of this year, this robot is one of the critters you’ll be able to build at home using a kit offered by Lego. The  Mindstorms EV3 creature (R3PTAR) is controlled via an iPad or iPhone.
