“What’s coming next in mobile?” It’s a question I get asked often, and my reply is usually what I call, “my best informed guess,” which can leave the truly curious craving for more.

For those of you who can’t wait to find out what’s next and want more opportunities to get your questions answered, check out Uplinq™ 2013—Qualcomm’s annual wireless ecosystem conference taking place Sept. 3-5 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront. Registration is now open and if you sign up early, you can scoop up some special discounts.

What is Uplinq? It’s a conference that offers deep technical education for all members of the mobile industry, whether you’re into Android, iOS, Windows® Phone and Windows RT, BlackBerry or Firefox OS.  Every year, Uplinq features guests and panelists from around the mobile industry. One thing you can count on at Uplinq: the event will be filled with a diverse set of views.

So what’s happening this year? As always, there will be numerous sessions geared to mobile developers. In addition to the traditional sessions, this year’s highlights include:

  • Mobile CodeFest & Hackathon – for the most technical members of the developer community
  • Market Match program – provides a speed dating environment for developers, operators and device makers looking for that special chemistry
  • Hardware Day – brings Qualcomm customers and suppliers together to provide insights into the latest features and technologies implemented in Qualcomm processors (Hardware Day is open to all interested Uplinq attendees; space is limited)

Finally, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the many informal networking opportunities and hospitality events that Uplinq is known for. These include the Registration Soiree, the Welcome Reception and lunches in the Mobile Innovations Showcase (a very laid-back atmosphere). And then, of course, there’s the Gaslamp Quarter block party/blowout ‘Q on Fifth’ that concludes the conference.

Uplinq is a must-attend event. If you’re looking for a discount, register early. And don’t forget to tell your friends. See you there!
