Hackathons: Tech's Answer to Big Problems

A new method of creative problem solving.

Hackathons are no longer just coding events. They have morphed into a method of creative problem solving. "Hacking" a big problem is about technologists mobilizing quickly and collaborating on a real and immediate solution to disaster relief, civic involvement, and so on. In this Spark documentary, we explore the hackathon trend and talk to technologists at MIT Media Lab, which galvanized a group of volunteers to form "Hurricane Hackers" in response to Hurricane Sandy. Watch the full video below.
