HTC Launches One XL and One S with Snapdragon S4 Processors

 

 

At Mobile World Congress 2012, HTC launched its newest, most advanced Android phones to date. At the same time, it consolidated its many product lines into a single, powerful brand, called “One”. The HTC One XL and HTC One S models are just a taste of what the future holds for HTC, as consistency will be as much of a driving force as impressive features and goliath-like processing. As you begin to digest the significance of this brand, it’s important to note that both smartphones, and their mighty capabilities, share a common part— a Snapdragon S4 processor.

The HTC One XL is the biggest in this lineup, featuring a 4.7-inch Super LCD 2 screen with a 1,280-by-720 resolution. Being the biggest phone in the lineup has its advantages, including the use of a new image-processing chip that shoots up to 8 Megapixel photos (S4 supports up to 20Mpxl) in less than a second between shots and autofocuses in a fraction of that time. There’s also Wi-Fi Display, an S4 processor feature that lets you mirror what’s on your phone to an HDTV, wirelessly, provided you buy the external HTC dongle that plugs into your TV (sold separately). Beats Audio, which originated in the HTC Rezound (which features a Snapdragon S3 Processor), finds its way into the One brand, complete with a pair of Beats headphones and promise of great sounds.

The Snapdragon S4 processor found in the One XL is also the reason why lightning fast LTE speeds can be achieved with an AT&T contract, unlike the other version, which uses a competitor’s chip. If you’re wondering about its performance, this dual core 1.5Ghz processor has already been benchmarked by Anandtech and PCMag.com, going up against other chips in the market, and has shown its brawn in every single test.

The One S is a slightly smaller version that has a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED screen and 960-by-540 resolution. As with the One XL, it’ll have the same fast shooting camera, Beats Audio, and WiFi Display. Despite its smaller frame, it’s running the same Snapdragon S4 processor as the One XL, which means it’s as powerful and feature-rich.

The HTC One XL and S will make their way to U.S shores in the next few months. With their processing prowess and breath of features, it’ll be hard to contain the excitement.
