1X Advanced is the natural evolution of CDMA2000 1X, the first and one of the most widely deployed 3G technologies. 1X Advanced builds upon proven 1X technology and adds advanced techniques to provide an unprecedented increase in performance.

1X Advanced is the natural evolution of CDMA2000 1X, the first and one of the most widely deployed 3G technologies. 1X Advanced builds upon proven 1X technology and adds advanced techniques such as BTS interference cancellation, radio link enhancements and others to provide an unprecedented increase in performance to support the rising data demand of users.

Up to 4x increase over CDMA2000’s excellent capacity.

1X Advanced offers up to 4x increase over today’s CDMA2000 1X networks. Operators can get up to 50% increase by introducing already commercial devices with better vocoders. The maximum increase of up to 4x is achieved through a new channel card upgrade and new devices.

Free up spectrum for EV-DO data.

This unprecedented voice capacity increase can be used to free up spectrum to offer EV-DO data services. This is an important tool, among others, available to operators to address the explosive growth in data demand.

Up to 70% increase in coverage.

The high voice capacity of 1X Advanced can be traded off to achieve up to 70% increase in coverage area. The increased coverage can be used to improve indoor coverage in urban areas and reduce the number of sites required in rural areas.

Simple and cost effective upgrade.

1x Advanced is a simple channel card upgrade, leveraging all of the existing network assets. Although it needs new devices to achieve the full 4x capacity, it is fully backward and forward compatible. Some of these features are already commercial.

Strong chipset support.

Qualcomm Technologies has lined up a strong chipset roadmap for 1X Advanced, enabling a range of devices supporting all market segments. Many operators have announced their support for 1X Advanced.
