By complementing our human abilities, cognitive technologies will serve as natural extensions of our senses, allowing us to discover and perceive the world around us in new ways. Imagine how these technologies allow you to buy custom-manufactured shoes based on a 3D model of your feet or how they will help the visually impaired get around. You could also imagine how traveling to a foreign country will be much easier when these technologies translate street signs, describe the landmarks around you, and let you speak with the locals.
