Entering the Challenge

What do I need to do to register?

It’s very simple. Just fill out the registration form with the required information, READ and ACCEPT the terms of the completion and submit your idea. That’s it and you are good to go.

Is there any registration fee?

No. Participation in the challenge is free.

Can I participate as an individual?

Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan is open to both companies and to individual entrepreneurs who meet the eligibility criteria.

Does everyone in the team need to register?

No. A designated representative of the company can register on behalf of the team.

How big should my team be?

There is no restriction on team size if you meet the eligibility criteria and have a great product proposal or idea.

Can I submit more than one entry?

Only one entry per company will be accepted for consideration. Submitting multiple proposals may lead to disqualification of the entrant.

What are the deadlines for the Challenge?

The registrations for QITC 2019 will close in May 2019. The exact dates and timing will be available after 15 April.

How do I know my application has been received?

Upon registration of your idea, you will get an email acknowledging the entry. Follow up emails will be sent if any information is missing or if additional information is needed.

Can I change my idea after I’ve applied?

After submitting the proposal, you must send any changes to QITC2019@qualcomm.com. Whether your team will be allowed to continue in the competition with the proposed changes will be decided on a case-by-case basis.

My details are incorrect. How can I get them updated?

You can send any updates or changes to your entry by sending an email to QITC2019@qualcomm.com.

Will I have the ownership rights to what I will create?

Yes. The company has full ownership rights to its ideas. All intellectual property arising out of this Qualcomm Innovate in Taiwan 2019 is the sole ownership of the company that is submitting the idea and eventually designing towards it. Please see the terms and conditions for more details.


What are the eligibility criteria?

  • Products and Ideas must be focused on one of the specified domains – 5G, cellular connected IoT, machine learning, smart cities, or multimedia.
  • Designs may be on any system on a chip (SoC) platform with a HLOS such as Android, Windows, etc. or open source Linux.
  • Products should use our mobile technologies.
  • Participating companies from Taiwan will only be judged based on the quality of the submission.
  • Only one submission per company will be accepted. Multiple proposals from the same company will lead to disqualification.
  • Preferably, participating companies should have established operations of minimum 6 months, although new companies and ideas will also be considered.

Will I get technical support to complete my project?

Yes. Qualcomm will answer/clarify questions from participants in a timely manner. Additionally, the shortlisted companies will be provided engineering support to help complete their project.

Once the selected team enters final phase, can we change a member of the team?

Yes. The company is ultimately responsible for their product development and is free to manage their resources in any manner they please.

Which development platforms will companies short-listed for QITC have access to?

For companies short-listed for QITC, it is recommended to select one of the following platforms to support their development efforts. These platforms are available through Thundercomm.

This dev kit is ideally suited for developers to create high-performance smartphone software development and applications


TurboX S605
TurboX S605 is a vision intelligence platform designed for IoT devices at the edge. This platform includes advanced camera processing software, machine learning and computer vision SDK, and connectivity and security technologies that can assist with product development.


TurboX T96
TurboX T96 is a low power multi-mode cellular IoT module based on the Qualcomm® MDM92061 chipset, suitable for deployment in 2G existing networks and NB-IoT / eMTC networks around the world.


TurboX SDW2500
SDW2500 SOM is designed for wearable devices, with an integrated sensor hub, low power location tracking, and 4G LTE modem, with support for Android.

How and when will I know if my proposal is selected?

Shortlisted participants will be informed of their selection by Qualcomm and will be published on the website.

What criteria will be used for selection?

Qualcomm will consider every proposal based on its merits and a variety of factors such as innovativeness, utility value, market relevance, design compatibility with our chipsets/solutions, robustness of product design, time-to-market advantage and business potential.

Who is on the jury?

The Jury panel will comprise of members from Qualcomm and the Industry. These are seasoned professionals who come with extensive industry and business experience.

Where can I find the template?

There is no specific template to submit your idea. Your idea may be submitted as a .pdf file or you may could also share a link to a website or video of your proposal or demo.
