Signals Research Group (SRG) conducted a comprehensive review of the 3GPP standardization process and the underlying specifications that define LTE. The analysis sought to understand the similarities and differences beween LTE’s duplex modes to support paired (FDD) and unpaired (TDD) spectrum. This whitepaper provides the findings from that study, including the results from their review of nearly 83,000 3GPP submissions, which demonstrate that the overwhelming majority of submissions apply equally to both LTE FDD and LTE TDD (also termed by some as TD-LTE) duplex modes and that companies from all over the globe supported and contributed to both modes.
