Nicola (Nicki) Palmer is senior vice president of technology & product development for Verizon. Nicki oversees the growth and expansion of the 5G ecosystem, convening partners and developing products and services to advance 5G growth and device technology. Previously she was responsible for planning, operations & engineering of the nation's largest and most reliable 4G LTE wireless network, the company’s 5G residential broadband and 5G mobile network deployments. Palmer began her career at Bell Atlantic in 1990 and has held a number of leadership positions in engineering, operations, and technology supporting advanced data, I and wireless products. Among many highlights throughout her career at Verizon, she was responsible for the planning, design and operation of global voice, data and IP networks, and also led the engineering and operations of the nation’s premier fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) network, which powers Verizon's FiOS data and TV services.
She is active in a number of organizations including the National Academy Foundation, and is a passionate advocate for promoting education and careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM), especially for young women. She has been recognized by Fierce Wireless as one of the industry Women to Watch, a Top 100 CIO/CTO Leaders in STEM by STEMCONNECTOR, and as one of the Most Influential Women in Wireless. Nicki has also been honored by Working Mother magazine and Girl Scouts of Greater New York.
Palmer earned a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering from Penn State University and an MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School. She resides in New Jersey with her husband and three children.
Deutsche Telekom, Abdurazak Mudesir

As SVP Technology Architecture & Innovation, Dr. Abdurazak is responsible for E2E 5G technology steering from innovation via standardization towards commercial readiness.
He joined Deutsche Telekom Group in April 2018 from Huawei Technologies. In his role at Huawei, Abdurazak was serving as Vice President of 5G Europe responsible for the development of Huawei’s 5G product and market strategies in Europe.
Prior to joining Huawei in 2012, Dr. Abdurazak was lead consultant responsible for the Network and Infrastructure Competence Center at Altran Germany, at the time parent company of Arthur D. Little (ADL).
Abdurazak holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Jacobs University in Bremen, Germany and he was a visiting researcher at the University of Edinburgh.
TIM, Elisabetta Romano
Chief Technology & Innovation Officer

Elisabetta Romano is Chief Technology and Innovation Officer at TIM. Among her responsibilities in the role is ensuring the Group’s technological innovation and digitisation process; overseeing the evolution of TIM’s mobile and landline communication networks; and the IT requirements at Group level.
Romano also directs the integration of engineering processes and the development of technological infrastructures, platforms and IT applications, as well as the governance of the related businesses.
Working in the telco, IT and Media industry for 30 years, Romano previously held responsibility roles at Ericsson, both in Europe and the United States. She served as VP of the Core Network division leading a global organization for enhanced mobile connectivity services, creating an evolutionary path towards the 5G technology.
Romano also led a team outlining the strategy and marketing of consumer TV and video offering.
Prior to that she was responsible for IT product portfolio strategy and development shaping the telecom industry transformation.
Romano was included in the 2017 Top 50 Women in Technology by the National Diversity Council alongside business leaders Sheryl Sandberg, Marissa Mayer and Ginny Rometty, among others.
DOCOMO, Takehiro Nakamura
SVP and General Manager of the 5G Laboratories

Mr. Takehiro Nakamura joined NTT Laboratories in 1990. He is now SVP and General Manager of the 5G Laboratories in NTT DOCOMO, Inc.
Mr. Nakamura has been engaged in the standardization activities for the W-CDMA, HSPA, LTE/LTE-Advanced and 5G at ARIB in Japan since 1997. He has been the Acting Chairman of Strategy & Planning Committee of 5G Mobile Communications Promotion Forum(5GMF) in Japan since October 2014.
Mr. Nakamura has also been contributing to standardization activities in 3GPP since1999, including as a contributor to 3GPP TSG-RAN as chairman from April 2009 to March 2013.
He is also very active in standardization of C-V2X/Connected Car in ARIB and ITS Info-communications Forum in Japan. He is now a leader of Cellular System Application Task Group of ITS Info-communications Forum.
BT, Fotis Karonis
CTIO of BT Enterprise

Fotis Karonis is the CTIO, Enterprise & the 5G Executive Lead at BT Group to drive the delivery and launch of the 5G programme. A post he took up in August 2018 having been BT’s Managing Director of Mobile and Convergence, CTO of EE and lead of the Technology integration of EE with BT group. As EE CTO, he led EE the UK’s largest operator to be the first to launch 4G in the UK in 2012, was awarded Mobile Europe’s CTO of the Year in 2015.
Rakuten, Tareq Amin

Mr. Tareq Amin currently serves as Executive Vice President, CAO of Rakuten, Inc. and CTO of Rakuten Mobile, Inc. At Rakuten Mobile, Inc., he is implementing disruptive initiatives such as; a next-generation cloud native network, an end-to-end automated OSS/BSS, edge computing for enhanced CX and new age applications, open & virtualized disaggregated RAN, and a simplified HW deployment for an any service/anywhere approach. These initiatives are the building blocks to a modern day network that has the ability to evolve at the pace of technology innovation.
Before Rakuten Mobile, Inc. he served as Senior Vice President of Technology Development and Automation for Reliance Jio. In this role, he was responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Technology Development and Automation organization, including innovation, development and operations. His organization led software development, systems engineering, next generation access networks, technical operations, and R&D. Their responsibility included infrastructure development projects that were engineering-focused initiatives to produce simple, efficient, and flexible technologies and products that were relevant to both existing and future networks.
Under his leadership, he drove end-to-end network design and deployment to meet coverage, capacity, and performance needs of India’s largest green field LTE TDD network, supporting industry leading data connectivity and innovative services such as VoLTE/HD Voice and eMBMS. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to conceptualize, develop, and launch a disruptive next-generation OSS which encompasses artificial intelligence (AI), scalable real-time machine learning models, strategic insights, and other meaningful Big Data Science techniques. Today the company is delivering product innovation faster than ever before.
Before 2013, Tareq served as Vice President of Carrier Solutions for Huawei, where led the company’s strategy for all major technologies and solution innovations. Prior to this role he served as Senior Director of National Planning & Performance at T-Mobile, where managed all budget allocation of capacity, performance, and software development related expenditures across USA markets.
His passion for technology and in-depth knowledge of industry trends in networks, products, and devices led to the timely executions of strategic organizational initiatives. These initiatives included emerging technologies such as Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualization (NFV), IoT, SON, CEM, Big Data Analytics, Converged LTE/WiFi Packet Core and Small Cells.

Vodafone, Paul Chapple

Paul Chapple is Vodafone’s Mobile Products & Services Director. Paul is responsible for the strategic relationships with key suppliers as well as all aspects of hardware and services customization and development.
Paul joined Vodafone from T-Mobile U.S. where he was Vice President of Supplier and Product Management. His primary focus was developing T-Mobile’s 5G and IoT road maps and then successfully bringing those products to market. His team managed the day-to-day relationships with established suppliers like Samsung, Apple and Google as well as finding new suppliers capable of meeting the evolving needs of the wireless ecosystem. Prior to T-Mobile, Paul held executive roles with both Samsung Electronics and Nokia Inc.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Paul is married with two children.
SK Telecom, Jong Kwan Park
Head of 5GX labs

As Head of 5GX Labs, Mr. Park is responsible for the research, development and commercialization of 5G network and next generation communications technologies in SK Telecom. He also performs a role as a decision maker with a leading 5G technology management function. In that sense, he is leading the development of 5G end-to-end network infrastructure and devices, mobile edge cloud computing and network virtualization, next generation operations supporting systems. He is also responsible for addressing various functional, architectural, and deployment issues of 5G and next generation network.
He joined SK Telecom in 1997 and has been served as the mobile core network and service specialist for more than 20 years. As leader of Core Network Lab since 2012, he has successfully completed the LTE & LTE-A deployment in South Korea. He also has led the world’s first HD Voice(VoLTE), VoLTE roaming, and NFV commercialization. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees in electrical engineering from Yonsei University in South Korea.
