Team Biographies
Nagraj Kashyap
Nagraj Kashyap is a Vice President at Qualcomm and heads up worldwide activities for Qualcomm Ventures. Mr. Kashyap has over 14 years of experience in the telecommunications industry. Prior to his current role, Nagraj worked in various engineering and management capacities at Nortel, 3COM, Motorola, PRTM and Qualcomm. He currently actively manages and serves as a board member or observer for Qualcomm Ventures investments in Zeebo, Obopay, WaveMarket, Triage Wireless, and Novarra. Mr. Kashyap also led Qualcomm Ventures investments in Airvana (AIRV) and Bitfone (acquired by HP in 2007). Mr. Kashyap has an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Texas at Austin.
Quinn Li
Quinn Li is Managing Director of Qualcomm Ventures, responsible for activities in North America. He currently manages and actively serves as a board observer for Qualcomm Ventures investments in A123 Systems, AMEC, InvenSense, Siimpel and Tela Innovations.
Quinn has over twelve years of experience in the telecommunications and semiconductor industry. Prior to Qualcomm Ventures, he spent several years in product management and business development at IBM. Previously, he worked in the wireless infrastructure group at Lucent Technologies and mobile communications group at Broadcom. He has an MBA from Cornell University and an MS and PhD in Electrical Engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
Jack Young
Mr. Young is Senior Investment Manager at QUALCOMM Ventures. His investment interest spans across the wireless sector including enabling technologies, applications, devices and infrastructure. Currently, Jack represents Qualcomm as a board observer for Pixsense and Validity Sensors.
Prior to QUALCOMM Ventures, Jack was EVP/US Country Manager at ZTE who helped to establish ZTE's US market presence. He was a sales and marketing executive at Nokia following the acquisition of Amber Network where he was founding AVP of marketing. Early in his career, he held marketing and business development positions with 3Com, GDC, and Nortel. Jack earned a BS, a MSEE from University of Calgary, and a MBA from McGill University.
Larry Griffith
Larry is a Director, Finance at Qualcomm Ventures. Larry has over 15 years of experience in accounting and finance for start up and venture backed companies. Prior to joining Qualcomm Ventures, he worked for various venture backed companies after beginning his career as an auditor at Ernst & Young.
Larry currently manages all aspects of finance and accounting for Qualcomm Ventures including support of existing portfolio companies and assisting with due diligence efforts for investment opportunities. Larry is a Certified Public Accountant and received his B.S. in Accounting from Loyola Marymount University.
Keith Muhart
Keith is a Senior Manager, Marketing at Qualcomm Ventures. Keith has 8 years experience in the wireless telecommunications industry. Prior to his current role, he managed research & competitive intelligence at Kyocera Wireless and was a research analyst at Wingcast, a Qualcomm JV.
Keith currently manages all research and marketing activities for Qualcomm Ventures and participates in the due-diligence process for all prospective investments. Keith has an M.B.A. from Thunderbird, School of Global Management and a BA from George Mason University.
Patrick Eggen
Patrick is a Senior Investment Manager at Qualcomm Ventures. He serves as the group lead for investment opportunities in the mobile software and services sector. Prior to joining Qualcomm, he worked for Salomon Smith Barney’s Investment Banking unit in their Chicago, London and Hong Kong offices. He was a member of Salomon’s Global Telecommunications team, involved in both M&A advisory roles and capital-raising transactions.
Patrick currently manages and actively serves as a Board Observer for Qualcomm Ventures investments in Aicent, Buzzd, GoTV and Obopay. Patrick has an M.B.A. from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management and a B.A. from Northwestern University.
Albert Wang
Albert Wang is an Investment Manager at Qualcomm Ventures. His investment interests include emerging wireless technologies that enable new value chains and mobile platforms that exhibit strong self-reinforcing network effects.
Prior to Qualcomm Ventures, Albert worked in various engineering and management roles in both startups and public companies. Most recently, he worked in Lux Capital Management focusing on MEMS and nanotechnology startups in the wireless industry. He also spent 4 years at Skyworks Solutions and managed the full lifecycle of several wireless semiconductor products that went into some of the most popular 3G WCDMA handsets. Before Skyworks, he played a key technical role in Tavanza, an RFIC startup that was eventually acquired by Anadigics. Currently, Albert also serves as a Board Director for the non-profit Silicon Valley - China Wireless Technology Association.
Albert received his MBA from the UCLA Anderson School of Management, his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, and his B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from Zhejiang University.
Richard Tapalaga
Richard is an Associate at Qualcomm Ventures. He has over seven years of experience working in various financial and business development capacities at Merrill Lynch & Co, Lux Capital, Equastone and Société Générale. Prior to joining Qualcomm Ventures, Richard worked at Société Générale, leading leveraged finance deal teams in the Gaming, Lodging & Leisure sector.
Richard is responsible for market investment-specific analysis and due-diligence for investment opportunities as well as portfolio management and performance tracking of investments for Qualcomm Ventures. Richard holds an M.B.A. from Cornell University with a concentration in Private Equity and Venture Capital and a B.S. from New York University’s Stern School of Business.
Gil Demeter
Gil is an Associate at Qualcomm Ventures. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Gil worked at Piper Jaffray & Co. as an analyst in their Technology Investment Banking Group. While at Piper Jaffray, Gil focused on a variety of transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity financings. Before that, Gil was an investment analyst at Industry Ventures, a secondary firm focused on acquiring venture capital investments in the technology sector.
Gil is responsible for market investment-specific analysis and due-diligence for investment opportunities as well as portfolio management and performance tracking of investments for Qualcomm Ventures. Gil holds a B.S. in Business Administration from UC Berkeley’s Haas School of Business.

James Shen
James is Managing Director, China/Korea, and is GM of TIANYI-BREW, the joint venture of Qualcomm and China Telecom. He currently manages and actively serves as a board member or observer for Qualcomm Ventures investments in Bedo, Great Wall Software and TechFaith Software.
Prior to his current role, James had a number of management positions with Qualcomm China, including the head of QIS China. Prior to Qualcomm, James provided leadership to 2 telecom startups: As Co-founder/CEO of NeTrue Communications, James pioneered VoIP solutions in 1996 and grew the company with $400M market cap in 2000. As Vice President at General Photonics, James was in charge of sales, marketing and business development for its optical communications signal measurement and control products from 2000 to 2002.
James received a Master’s degree in Communication Management from University of Southern California and BS degree in Electronic Engineering from Zheijing University.

Frederic Rombaut
Frederic is Managing Director, Europe, and heads up Qualcomm Ventures European operations based in London.
Frederic currently manages and actively serves as a board observer for Qualcomm Ventures investments in ip.access, Arieso, Streamezzo and Inside Contactless.
Frederic has a 20 year background in both private equity and wireless communications. He's a former partner at APAX PARTNERS where he led the telecom sector and served as a board member for a number of fast growing technology companies. Prior to joining Qualcomm, Frederic was Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Noos, the major French cable operator sold to Liberty Global. Earlier in his career Frederic co-founded Bouygues Telecom, the 3rd Mobile operator in France. Frederic is also a PriceWaterhouse' alumni.
Frederic holds an MSc in Electronic Engineering (ECE Paris), and received his MBA from the Sorbonne University (IAE Paris). He also teaches Finance & Entrepreneurship at HEC Paris and ENST Paris.
Jason Ball
Jason Ball is a Senior Investment Manager at Qualcomm Ventures Europe and is based in London. Jason has 8 years experience working with internet and mobile software start-ups. Prior to joining Qualcomm, he was the Investment Director at London Seed Capital, a seed and early stage venture capital fund, where he focused on material science and internet technology investments.
Jason holds an MBA from ESADE in Barcelona, where he was given the “Innovation and Strategy Award” from the Boston Consulting Group, and a BS in Chemistry from Mississippi College.

Karthee Madasamy
Karthee is Managing Director, India and Israel, and is based in Bangalore, India. Karthee has over 10 years of experience in the wireless and multimedia industries and has worked in product development and management roles at various semiconductor startups. Prior to his current role, he worked as a management consulting intern at Boston Consulting Group and as an associate at the venture capital firm, JK&B Capital.
Karthee currently manages and actively serves as a board observer for Qualcomm Ventures investments in Kirusa and Tessolve. Karthee holds an MBA from the Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago and an MS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Michigan.
