QPrize™ Competition
Qualcomm Ventures is promoting the “QPrize™” a series of international business plan competitions designed to provide over $500,000 in early stage capital for enterprising technology companies. The competition is open to entrepreneurs located throughout the world and will feature semi-final events in key locations where Qualcomm Ventures has active investment offices. Qualcomm Ventures will select one semi-finalist for each of the four contest markets: China, Europe, India and North America.
Four semi-finalists will each receive $100,000 (USD) of convertible note funding from Qualcomm Ventures and will be invited to the Qualcomm Ventures CEO Summit in San Diego, Calif. to compete for the Grand Prize. The grand prize winner will receive an additional $150,000 (USD) of convertible note funding, for a total prize of $250,000 (USD) in venture financing. In a joint effort to showcase the best products, services and technologies, the grand prize winner will win a free trip to Barcelona, Spain 15-18 February 2010 to compete as a Finalist in the renowned GSMA Global Mobile Awards - Mobile Innovation Grand Prix. QPrize™ Grand Prize Winner – PANORAMIC POWER
Qualcomm Ventures is pleased to announce the Grand Prize winner for our QPrize™2009 International competition. Panoramic Power, an Israeli start-up company, took top honors and secured a total of (USD) $250,000 in investment funding. The company has developed a wireless sensor-based system that enables enterprises to quickly and efficiently deploy nonintrusive and cost effective Smart Grid technologies within their existing facilities. Dr. David Almagor, CEO & Co-founder of Panoramic Power, stated "The competition was a wonderful experience and gave us great exposure to new opportunities and potential new business. The economic crisis has been tough on many companies but seed stage companies like ours have been severely impacted as access to venture money has virtually frozen. Winning the QPrize competition will give us a great boost and should help us gain more industry recognition as well as help us close our first round of institutional financing. Our near term goals are to continue technology development as well as crystallize our business strategy."
