Qualcomm, along with other members of OHA™, are working together to develop and deploy Android.
Effective October 1, 2012, QUALCOMM Incorporated completed a corporate reorganization in which the assets of certain of its businesses and groups, as well as the stock of certain of its direct and indirect subsidiaries, were contributed to Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. (QTI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of QUALCOMM Incorporated. Learn more about these changes
Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) is dedicated to bringing advanced smartphone functionality and performance to all wireless device users. We couple our technology-leading silicon and software system packages with strong customer support and technology relationships to reduce product development cycles and increase product reliability in all market tiers.
To that end, we’ve worked with Microsoft to enable a new generation of multimedia and data-centric Windows® Phone 7 series smartphones based on Qualcomm’s chipsets. These slim handsets will foster greater productivity, with features such as extended battery life when connecting to the corporate Exchange Server and fast multimedia for when the end-user is relaxing away from the office.
Qualcomm also is collaborating with Google. As one of the founding members of the Open Handset Alliance (OHA)™ Qualcomm, along with other members of OHA, are working together to develop and deploy Android, an open-source, commercial-grade, mobile application platform for 3G networks. Building on the core Linux operating system, Android allows manufacturers and developers to create always-connected consumer mobile devices that boast rich, customizable functionality.
Qualcomm is working closely with HP to deliver a best-in-class mobile experience on their webOS platform. The combination of webOS and Qualcomm’s high performance chipsets allows HP to deliver a full web and multimedia experience in sleek smartphone and tablet designs, meeting consumer demand to stay connected to the information and content that’s most important to them.
Finally, we remain committed to our own Brew® MP which enables high-level OS functionality to handsets and devices across the full spectrum of handsets and devices. Utilizing the fast 3G data connectivity enabled by Qualcomm, developers, manufacturers and operators alike can offer new media-rich services and build new revenue streams, while reducing operating expenses and time to market.
Regardless of the application platform, we push the silicon envelope to extend the capabilities of a handset beyond basic voice support. Our silicon and software system solutions feature fully integrated multimedia—from streaming video to gaming to location mapping and more—all on the same device.
