Anthony A. Lewis is Vice President of Open Development for Verizon Wireless, a position he has held since January 15, 2008. Lewis is responsible for executing the open development initiative, including directing the pricing, activation, billing, distribution, device specification, testing, communications planning and financial matters for the project. Verizon’s “Open Development” will give customers the option to use wireless devices, software and applications that are not provided by Verizon Wireless on its nationwide wireless network.
Prior to this promotion, Mr. Lewis was the President of Verizon - Washington DC where he had oversight for all of Verizon's operations, including regulatory and financial matters in the nation's capital.
Mr. Lewis joined The Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Company of Virginia, now Verizon Virginia in 1986 as a group manager in the operator services department. He has held a succession of positions with increasing responsibilities in product line management, traffic engineering and planning, sales, regulatory and public policy.
Mr. Lewis has served on various boards including Chairman DC Chamber of Commerce’s Governing Board 2007, the Board of Associates of Gallaudet University, the Greater Washington Board of Trade, the DC Workforce Investment Council, the Washington Performing Arts Society, the Federal City Council, the Cultural Alliance of Greater Washington and City First Bank
He currently serves on the boards of Elizabeth City State University, Fight for Children, DC Children First and the Encore Dance School.
Mr. Lewis has conducted several spring musical productions for the South Lakes High School Drama Department and was a percussionist with the Heritage Fellowship United Church of Christ Gospel Choir. He is past president and current member of the Developmental Roundtable for Upward Mobility (DRUM) and a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
Mr. Lewis graduated from Elizabeth City State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in business in 1986. He furthered his education at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business Leadership Development Program and the John Hopkins Leadership Development Program in 1996. He obtained an MBA from the Johns Hopkins University in 2000. |
