Deployable Communications
Next Generation Wireless for the Government Today
For daily operational needs, federal, state and local government agencies are typically well served by private and commercial wireless networks. However, when disasters strike or for operations in desolate terrain where coverage challenges may exist, the ability to bring your communications with you may be essential to successfully executing the mission.
Qualcomm Deployable Base Station
Qualcomm Deployable Base Station (QDBS) is a highly portable, self-contained cellular system. Agencies that include QDBS in their emergency response kit are well prepared to deal with a broad range of conditions – from wildfires to hurricanes to tactical military exercises. In laboratory environments, the QDBS has proved invaluable in the testing of devices and applications prior to fielding.
The QDBS is available in two models, a 3G CDMA Broadband Data System, and a 3G Secure CDMA Cellular System. Both systems are compact, easy-to-deploy and operate. The 3G Secure CDMA Cellular System is designed to support clear and secure voice and low-speed data communications. The 3G CDMA Broadband Data System is designed to meet the needs of users that require high speed data. They both leverage ruggedized COTS components and contain the cell site RF equipment and, in the case of the 3G Secure CDMA Cellular System, a full featured, carrier-grade cellular switch, while the 3G CDMA Broadband Data System includes a Radio Node Controller (RNC) and Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN).
The systems can be forward-deployed to supply vital wireless communications. They both use proven, standards-based 3G CDMA 1xRTT or EV-DO Rev. A in a 1.25 MHz spectrum. The QDBS Broadband system supports data speeds up to 3.1 Mbps in the forward link and 1.8 Mbps in the reverse link.
