Dan Novak

Qualcomm, Vice President of Global Marketing, Public Relations and Communications

Dan Novak has over 20 years of executive leadership in integrated marketing, branding, media, and public relations. In his current role at Qualcomm Incorporated, Novak is responsible for developing the Company’s global marketing, digital and web strategies, and he also leads worldwide public relations.

Previously, Novak served as vice president of programming and advertising for MediaFLO USA Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm. Novak was a member of the founding executive team that launched MediaFLO USA in the United States. In that role, Novak was responsible for programming strategy, content acquisition, production, advertising and consumer and media research. He was also instrumental in finalizing multi-year licensing agreements with CBS, ESPN, FOX, NBC and MTV Networks.

Before, Novak founded and served as the vice president and general manager of Cox Communications Channel 4 San Diego. In this role, Novak drove the growth and innovation of the award-winning media outlet, into a dominant network within the regional sports and media markets. While with Cox, Novak oversaw the sports marketing investments and programming ventures for the region including the San Diego Padres, PETCO Park and Cox Arena at San Diego State University. Novak also was responsible for media and public relations for Cox in the region and hosted a regular television show.

Novak began his television career as a sports anchor, reporter and producer for NBC affiliates.

A graduate of what is now Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism; Novak received his Master’s degree from San Diego State University in Television, Film and New Media Production.

Novak currently serves on the advisory board of San Diego State University’s College of Business Administration, is an executive committee member and former chairman of the San Diego Sports Commission and Hall of Champions and is a board member of the Make A Wish Foundation of San Diego.
