Cristiano Amon is senior vice president of product management in the Cellular Products Group of Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT), the world's largest provider of wireless chipsets and software solutions. In this role he is responsible for all aspects of product definition, planning and marketing for the CDMA2000® and UMTS product line. In addition, he manages the relationships and strategy plans with CDMA operators worldwide as well as new business opportunities for the division. Prior to joining QCT, Qualcomm Incorporated’s semiconductor division, Amon was responsible for technology and strategic business development within the global development organization where he oversaw key strategic accounts in North America.

Also while at Qualcomm, from 2001 to 2003, Cristiano Amon was the chief technical officer of Vésper, a wireless and fiber CLEC operator in Brazil. As CTO, Mr. Amon was responsible for technology planning, engineering, and network operations. He also served simultaneously as the executive vice-president of corporate development, having responsibilities for interconnection, strategic partnerships and carriers’ relations.
Before joining Vésper, Amon was the vice president of technology at VeloCom Incorporated in Denver. and a member of the technology committee of Vésper Advisory Board of Directors.

Prior to VeloCom and Vésper, Amon was senior director of operations to Latin America of Ericsson’s CDMA business unit, based in San Diego, Calif. In this position, he was responsible for sales, business management, technical development, and customer operations within Latin America.

From 1995 to 1999, Amon held several positions at Qualcomm’s headquarters in San Diego. As the director of technology development he was involved in regulatory standardization and strategic efforts to establish CDMA technology in several countries, and to promote the technology with regional wireless carriers in Latin America. As part of Qualcomm’s former infrastructure division, Amon was instrumental in establishing the product development strategy for Latin America. He also participated in the formation of the consortium that originated Chilesat PCS in Chile (today Smartcom PCS), Pegaso PCS (Mexico) and Vesper.

Prior to 1995, Amon worked in the Mobile Communications Division at NEC Corporation, in Tokyo and São Paulo, where he was involved in systems engineering and product management.

Cristiano Amon is a Brazilian citizen and has a BSEE from UNICAMP – Universidade Estadual de Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.
