Qualcomm Named One of FORTUNE’s “100 Best Companies to Work For”

– January 17, 2013 – Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM) today announced that FORTUNE has ranked the Company #11 on the 16th annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list. The full list and related stories appear in the February 2, 2013 issue of FORTUNE, available now at fortune.com/bestcompanies.

“I’m honored to see Qualcomm ranked once again on FORTUNE’s ‘100 Best Companies to Work For’ list,” said Dan Sullivan, executive vice president of human resources at Qualcomm. “This year is especially significant since it commemorates our 15th consecutive year receiving this outstanding recognition. At Qualcomm, we continuously strive to provide a work environment that is built on the premise that our people are the foundation of our business. And in doing so, we’ve created a culture that fosters teamwork and innovation, as well as demonstrates a genuine commitment to our talented and dedicated employees – and truly sets us apart.”

To pick the 100 Best Companies to Work For, FORTUNE partners with the Great Place to Work Institute to conduct the most extensive employee survey in corporate America: 259 firms participated in this year’s survey. More than 277,000 employees at those companies responded to a survey created by the institute, a global research and consulting firm operating in 45 countries around the world. Two-thirds of a company’s score is based on the results of the institute’s Trust Index survey, which is sent to a random sample of employees from each company. The survey asks questions related to their attitudes about management’s credibility, job satisfaction, and camaraderie. The other third is based on responses to the institute’s Culture Audit, which includes detailed questions about pay and benefit programs and a series of open-ended questions about hiring practices, methods of internal communication, training, recognition programs, and diversity efforts.
