Leading Refrigerated Fleet Stevens Transport Rolls Out Qualcomm Platform and Applications Fleet-Wide

MCP200 with its Key Applications, Including Hours of Service, Workflow, Navigation and Media Manager, Help Stevens Improve Customer Service, Productivity, Efficiency and ROI

– January 25, 2012 – Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), a leading provider of integrated wireless systems, applications and services to transportation and logistics companies, and Stevens Transport, a leading service oriented refrigerated transport carrier, today announced that Stevens Transport selected Qualcomm’s Mobile Computing Platform 200 (MCP200) to integrate across its fleet of approximately 2,000 tractors. Following a competitive evaluation, Stevens Transport elected to invest in Qualcomm’s MCP200 and its easy-to-use, powerful applications that will enhance its customer service while increasing efficiency and productivity.

“With the adoption of Qualcomm’s MCP200 and many of our key applications, Stevens Transport will be able to better optimize its fleet operations by leveraging important analytics and critical business information to increase productivity, run more loaded miles and generate more revenue, all while providing its customers with the best possible shipping experience,” said Norm Ellis, vice president of sales, services, and marketing at Qualcomm Enterprise Services. “We are committed to providing our customers with smooth, comprehensively managed operations that ultimately ensure success for their own customers.”

While evaluating fleet management solutions options, Stevens Transport, who is considered one of the country’s most reputable and environmentally-conscious refrigerated carriers, sought to significantly improve fleet productivity and operational efficiency. As a long-time customer familiar with Qualcomm’s fleet management platforms and applications, the company was confident that the critical tools available with the MCP200 would aid its fleet in achieving its objectives. In particular, Stevens Transport will utilize the following applications:

•Qualcomm Hours of Service (QHOS) — An electronic on-board recorder (EOBR) application that automates driver logs and is fully compliant with the latest rules and regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), which will improve Stevens’ fleet managers and dispatchers efficiency

•Media Manager — Enables reliable and secure delivery of critical audio and video messages and PDF documents to a single driver, group of drivers, or to the entire fleet, which helps increase driver satisfaction, knowledge and performance by keeping drivers informed in a timely manner.

•Performance Monitoring — Records the most critical vehicle and driver performance behaviors that affect fuel consumption, allowing Stevens to more accurately manage fleet fuel consumption and its associated costs. In fact, Stevens reported immediate benefits, citing increased driver education and awareness around the impact of proper fuel management on the fleet, the environment and future of its business.

•Circle of Service Workflow — Integrates with Stevens’ dispatch software and automates functions, such as load assignments, work process forms and other tasks required by the driver at each stop, which provides an efficient and streamlined process to help the carrier lower operational costs, reduce errors made by manual data entry and improve compliance and on-time fulfillment.

•In-Cab Navigation —Contributes to increased productivity, safer driving and enhanced driver satisfaction by providing Stevens’ drivers with turn-by-turn directions while in-motion, as well as helps improve the bottom line by using accurate routes to reduce out-of-route miles.

“Qualcomm is one of the most experienced providers in the industry as evidenced by its impressive track record of technology innovation and customer service. When it came to choosing the right solution for our business, Qualcomm’s MCP200—and its industry-leading applications—was the proper technology investment for our business model and will play a critical role in our ongoing success by creating access to the best solutions available for our fleets today,” said Scott Mellman, director of logistics at Stevens Transport. “We take pride in selecting first-class equipment to keep our drivers safe and comfortable, that’s why we’ve relied on Qualcomm’s OmniTRACS and MCP100 fleet management offerings for years. With the transition to the MCP200 we’re looking forward to further advancing our fleet capabilities with business-critical information at our fingertips to better understand how our business is running.”
