Qualcomm’s Predictive Performance Service Helps C.R. England Improve Safety and Driver Retention

Service Helps Identify High-risk Drivers, Prevent Accidents, Reduce Costs and Improve Bottom Line

– October 03, 2008 – Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), a leading developer and innovator of advanced wireless technologies and data solutions, and C.R. England, a leading refrigerated freight transportation company, today announced that Qualcomm's Predictive Performance Service (PPS) is helping C.R. England proactively identify and coach high-risk drivers to reduce accidents. Qualcomm's PPS uses predictive modeling technologies to identify which drivers are most likely to have performance issues. Based on information derived from PPS, C.R. England implemented a driver performance program designed to reduce accident frequency and severity. C.R. England reports that the program has resulted in a 21 percent decrease in its preventable accident rate (per million miles over a six-month rolling average) and a 21 percent decrease for all accidents during the same period. Severe accident frequency rates have been reduced by 53 percent since the program's inception.

C.R. England's driver performance program is designed to manage safety, reduce operating costs and increase worker productivity, profitability and shareholder value. The program focuses on the 10-15 percent of drivers identified to be most at risk. To identify these drivers, key operating data is periodically reviewed and scored to predict the likelihood that each C.R. England driver could have an accident. These scores rank drivers from most at risk to least at risk, and indicate why.

In addition to continuing to enhance its driver performance program using PPS, C.R. England is building a new PPS-based program designed to attract and retain good drivers. The new driver retention program predicts drivers at risk of voluntarily quitting and includes countermeasures to keep good drivers. The program is designed to provide C.R. England with sufficient leadtime to intervene and prevent potential driver attrition. C.R. England will also leverage PPS to develop hiring models aimed at attracting those drivers who best fit the C.R. England culture, thereby providing C.R. England with significant recruiting and retention cost savings.

Predictive Performance Service is built on the transportation industry's most sophisticated and reliable predictive modeling platform and is brought to customers in collaboration with FleetRisk Advisors. FleetRisk Advisors utilizes its Transportation Risk Analytics Center (TRAC™) and customer data to develop client-specific predictive models. The models help carriers identify potential business performance limitations, such as safety and service failures or recruiting and retention risks.

PPS allows companies to take action and derive increasing value by implementing real-time decision support, a major step in managing risk.
