Qualcomm’s mirasol Displays Selected by Foxlink for Future Portable Devices

Foxlink Incorporates Low-Power, Highly Reflective IMOD Technology for GSM Watch, Bluetooth Stereo Designs

– January 07, 2008 – Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), today at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show announced its relationship with Foxlink Group, a leading developer and manufacturer of communications devices, computers and consumer electronics, to supply mirasol™ displays for two new upcoming product designs - a leading-edge GSM watch and their Bluetooth® stereo headset.

The phenomenon that creates vibrant colors in the wings of a butterfly, interferometric modulation (IMOD), is the same phenomenon that illuminates Qualcomm's mirasol displays. The result is a low-power display that is viewable in virtually any light - even bright sunlight.

“Given Foxlink's in-depth experience in the development and manufacturing of consumer electronics devices, this alliance is a significant step in accelerating the adoption of mirasol displays,” says Jim Cathey, vice president of business development, Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc. “We are excited to broaden our consumer reach with the GSM watch and Bluetooth device. Users will immediately realize the benefit of the naturally bright and readable display, and they'll come to appreciate the extended use time that results from our low power design.”

The Foxlink GSM Watch is a cellular phone wristwatch with a compatible Bluetooth headset. It will come in 900/1800/1900 MHz tri-band with calendar, alarm clock and stopwatch capabilities. The GSM Watch design will include a 1.2-inch mirasol display with a resolution of 128x96. The mirasol display is easily read across a wide range of ambient lighting conditions without requiring supplemental illumination. The device will also offer voice control commands and is compatible with both stereo and mono Bluetooth headsets.

The Foxlink Bluetooth Stereo is a pendant-sized headset designed for music playback with in-ear headphones for premium sound quality and noise cancellation. The device features a 1.1-inch mirasol display and a multi-purpose button that controls standard phone functions of three-way calling, call start/end, hold, mute and redial.

“Foxlink is constantly looking for groundbreaking solutions that complement our existing offerings,” said James Lee, president of Foxlink System Business Group. “Qualcomm's mirasol displays with IMOD technology enable us to offer a complete design package to our partners that include innovative product concepts, distinguished functionalities and an extended consumer value proposition.”

Product launch dates and retail channels will be announced at a later date. For more information about mirasol displays, visit www.mirasoldisplays.com.

About Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc.
Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc. has developed the industry's first direct view MEMS display for mobile devices - a true technological innovation that offers low power consumption and superb viewing quality in a wide range of environmental conditions, including bright sunlight. Based on a reflective technology, Qualcomm's mirasol displays require no backlighting and therefore consume significantly less power than standard displays in portable devices. The display works by reflecting light so that specific wavelengths interfere with each other to create color. The phenomenon that makes a butterfly's wings shimmer is the same process used in Qualcomm's mirasol displays. Using advanced MEMS technologies, mirasol displays support Qualcomm's overall innovation strategy of increasing the capability of mobile devices while minimizing power consumption. Qualcomm MEMS Technologies, Inc. is headquartered in San Diego, Calif., with offices in San Jose, Calif. and Hsinchu, Taiwan.
