Call for Presentations
At BREW 2005, nearly 100 speakers from all areas of the wireless industry were represented and covered a broad range of topics from mobile gaming to LBS applications to uiOne. BREW 2006 is expected to continue the tradition of bringing compelling speakers who share their wealth of knowledge with conference attendees. Presentation submissions will be accepted now through December 31, 2005 and notification will follow by February 24, 2006.

BREW 2006 presentations will be accepted for the following three agenda tracks:

  • Business Track

  • Technical Track
Technical track sessions that provide relevant technology updates, practical how-to advice and ideas from the experts for capitalizing on the power and promise of BREW.
  • Technical Tutorials
In-depth technical hands on sessions that explore new functionality, best practices for using the requisite tools, and some hotshot techniques sure to impress.

"Since its inception, our conference has been sold out for weeks before the actual event, which speaks volumes about the high caliber of speakers and compelling topics that are presented at the BREW conferences," said Gina Lombardi, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Qualcomm Internet Services. "At BREW 2006, we look forward to more thought-provoking presentations to wow the wireless industry."

BREW 2006 Developer Awards
BREW publishers and developers are invited to submit their top BREW applications for consideration for the BREW 2006 Developer Awards by February 28, 2006. As part of the evaluation process developers must complete an online entry form and provide a demo of their application by the deadline. Finalists will be announced on the BREW 2006 Awards Web site on May 15, and winners will be revealed at the awards ceremony hosted during the BREW 2006 Conference, being held May 31- June 2 in San Diego.

"The BREW 2005 Awards program experienced a significant spike in both the total number of nominations and entries received internationally. We look forward to next year's program continuing to grow with the wireless industry benefiting from new initiatives and new BREW applications," said Lombardi.

In 2005, Qualcomm introduced three new award categories which, due to popular demand, are being brought back for 2006: Best Ringtone Application, Best Up & Coming Application and the People's Choice Award. In addition, Qualcomm will continue with its cornerstone categories: Best Business Application, Best Location-Based Service Application, Best Communications Application, Best Information Application, Best Entertainment Application and Best Game Application. Judging will be based on the following criteria; ease of use, originality, "cool" factor, features and "shows likelihood or evidence of commercial success." Any application worldwide that is commercially available by February 28, 2006 from an operator offering BREW products and services is eligible for submission.
