Qualcomm Announces Availability of HourTRACS™ Web Solution for Europe

New Web-Based Application Enables Transportation Companies to Track Driving Hours in Near Real-Time

– July 12, 2004 – Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions Europe bv, a wholly owned subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced the availability of the HourTRACS Web solution. HourTRACS Web is the first Web-based, back-office software system for the European market that enables transportation companies of all sizes to monitor driving events and register driving hours in near real-time via the Internet.

HourTRACS Web offers an unparalleled degree of flexibility and is designed to take into account the latest developments in European social regulations, including connectivity with the new European digital tachograph.

"HourTRACS Web gives transportation and carrier companies essential information to optimize human resources and manage their drivers directly, ensuring they stay within European working and resting time requirements," said Michael Geoffrey, managing director of Qualcomm Wireless Business Services Europe bv. "This investment in Web hosting further demonstrates Qualcomm's commitment to continually develop new solutions to meet the challenges of business today while evolving current solutions to increase value and meet changing customer needs."

Easy-to-use and cost effective, HourTRACS Web has already been deployed by the French transport operator, Giraud International, to manage all of its fleet. The transportation company is also able to share this new solution with its customers, sub-contractors and partner carriers so they can have a direct immediate overview of their drivers without having to connect to a dedicated network.

"HourTRACS Web has brought us many benefits. Thanks to Qualcomm's Web-based applications, we are able to offer differentiating services to our partners and customers and are able to obtain near real-time information," said Constantin Christov, on-board IT projects manager, Giraud International. "We can now react to driving events and find the right solution immediately. This new application has given Giraud International an edge over its competition."

With Qualcomm's HourTRACS Web solution, the only one of its kind on the market today, every party involved in a particular journey can share and obtain accurate information with just one click. The driver is not disturbed while driving, yet the information is more complete and easier to understand than with mobile phone exchanges. In addition, Qualcomm's coverage throughout Europe is far more complete than the coverage of other solutions.

Linked to Qualcomm's EutelTRACS® fleet management system, HourTRACS Web provides detailed trips records and precise hour accounting, warnings to dispatchers when schedules are at risk and enables a seamless data integration to transport companies' other operational tools.

The HourTRACS Web service provides cost-effective, multiple-user access via a standard Web browser and offers simplified set-up and operation, a rich set of fleet management features, integration capabilities and advanced trip recording management. No installation is required for remote sites and users can access the service quickly at any time. HourTRACS Web is Qualcomm-hosted and for customers who prefer access to fleet data via the Internet, Qualcomm hosts and maintains all servers, software and customer data.

Qualcomm is the industry's global leader in providing high-value wireless data solutions with Network Management Centers that process more than nine million transactions each day.
