Qualcomm Chairman and CEO Honored with Civil Rights Award for Contributions to Workplace Diversity and Education Reform

Leadership Conference on Civil Rights Recognizes Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs

– May 14, 2004 – Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM) today announced that Dr. Irwin Mark Jacobs, chairman and CEO of Qualcomm, was honored with the 2004 Dr. Dorothy I. Height Chairperson's Award of Special Merit by the Leadership Conference on Civil Rights (LCCR) at an awards ceremony last night in Washington, D.C.

The LCCR, the nation's oldest, largest, and most diverse civil and human rights coalition, recognized Dr. Jacobs for Qualcomm's commitment to diversity in the workplace, his leadership in the education reform movement and the Company's support of affirmative action. Examples of Dr. Jacobs' leadership in these areas include San Diego's High Tech High, LCCR Education Fund's "Brown at 50" celebration, and the Realize the Dream project established to develop a public policy agenda on public school education reform (www.realizethedream.org).
