Qualcomm Promotes Norman L. Ellis to Vice President of Business Operations for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions

– December 05, 2001 – SAN DIEGO -- December 5, 2001 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), the leader in mobile communications for the transportation industry, today announced the promotion of Norman L. Ellis to vice president of business operations for Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions (QWBS). Ellis will have specific responsibility for the private fleet, less-than-truckload (LTL) and leasing markets and will continue to expand Qualcomm's market leadership in the private fleet, LTL and leasing markets using QWBS products and services to provide fleets with industry-leading fleet management solutions.

"Norman has been instrumental in helping QWBS sign and deploy key customer fleets, and has provided both vision and direction in the development of high-value wireless data solutions for private fleet and LTL carriers."

Ellis joined Qualcomm in 1998 as director of program and product development for the Wireless Business Solutions division. He has provided strategic leadership with customer specific solutions, directing internal resources from a variety of functional areas to achieve results. Over the last three years, his role has continued to expand with responsibilities for market growth in the private fleet and LTL markets. Ellis has overseen the launch of several new solutions in the year 2000, assuming increased responsibility to integrate QWBS products and services. Most recently, as senior director of business development, Ellis was responsible for successfully signing key customers in the private fleet and LTL markets for QWBS.

Before joining Qualcomm, Ellis held key management positions at Mason Dixon Lines, Overnite Transportation Co., and Service Transport, Inc. He has over 20 years experience in the transportation and logistics market and is a long time member of the Council of Logistics Management. Ellis is a graduate of Emory and Henry College in Emory, Virginia.
