Qualcomm CDMA Technologies Announces World's First Bluetooth-Qualified Commercial 3G Chipset

– October 11, 2001 – SAN DIEGO -- October 11, 2001 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the world's first Bluetooth™ version 1.1-compliant CDMA2000 1X commercial chipset, the Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT) MSM5100™ Mobile Station Modem (MSM™) solution. The MSM5100 Bluetooth hardware and software have been formally qualified by the Bluetooth Qualification Body (BQB) from Cetecom, Inc., and formally listed in the Bluetooth Qualified Product List (BQPL). The specific components and profiles qualified include: Baseband, Link Manager Protocol (LMP), Logic Link Control and Adaptation Protocol (L2CAP), Serial Port Profile (SPP), Service Discovery Protocol (SDP) and Generic Access Profile (GAP). The MSM5100 chipset provides the most efficient means of integrating Bluetooth digital baseband processing into a comprehensive CDMA2000 1X chipset and system software solution, and will allow manufacturers to develop state-of-the-art Bluetooth enabled third-generation (3G) handsets.
