Qualcomm Unveils the First Fixed Satellite Phone to Operate On The Globalstar Satellite Communications System

– September 22, 1999 – NEW ORLEANS -- September 22, 1999 -- Qualcomm Incorporated (Nasdaq: QCOM), pioneer and world leader of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) digital wireless technology, today announced the introduction of its Globalstar™ fixed satellite phones including the standard model, GSP-2800, and the enhanced model, GSP-2900. The fixed satellite phones use Qualcomm's Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) technology to operate on the Globalstar satellite communications system. Fixed satellite telephones are ideal for users who live in areas where conventional wireline or terrestrial-based wireless communications solutions are unavailable.
